Terms of Service

Welcome to Pastebox ("Pastebox," "we," "us," or "our"), available at pastebox.io. These Terms of Service ("Terms") form a legally binding agreement between you and the operator of Pastebox governing your access to and use of the website, tools, and related services (collectively, the "Service"). By accessing or using the Service in any way, you agree to be bound by these Terms and by our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated by reference. If you do not agree to these Terms, you must not access or use the Service.

1. Acceptance of Terms

Your use of the Service constitutes your acceptance of these Terms. These Terms apply to all visitors and users of the Service, whether or not they create a paste, and regardless of how the Service is accessed (browser, API, or any other method). If you use the Service on behalf of a company or other entity, you represent that you have authority to bind that entity, and "you" refers to that entity.

You consent to receive notices and communications from us electronically, including by posting on the Service or by email to any address you provide, and you agree that such electronic communications satisfy any legal requirement that communications be in writing.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years of age (or the minimum legal age in your jurisdiction, whichever is higher) to use the Service. If you are under 18, you may only use the Service with the consent and supervision of a parent or legal guardian who agrees to be bound by these Terms. By using the Service, you represent and warrant that you meet these requirements and that you are not prohibited from using the Service under any applicable law.

You further represent that you are not located in, or a resident of, any country or territory subject to comprehensive embargoes or sanctions, and that you are not named on any government list of prohibited or restricted parties.

3. Description of Service

Pastebox is an online platform that allows users to create, store, and share text-based content ("Pastes"). Users may create public or unlisted pastes, optionally protect them with passwords, and set expiration times.

The Service is provided free of charge as a convenience. We may display advertising on the Service, including advertisements served by us or by third-party advertising networks; this does not affect the prohibition on user-submitted advertising in Section 8. We reserve the right to modify, limit, suspend, or discontinue the Service, in whole or in part, at any time, for any reason, without notice and without any liability to you.

4. Accounts

Account features may be offered now or in the future. If you register an account, you agree to:

  • Provide accurate, current, and complete information
  • Keep your login credentials confidential and secure
  • Accept full responsibility for all activity that occurs under your account
  • Notify us promptly of any unauthorized use of your account

You may not share, sell, or transfer your account, and you may not create accounts to evade a suspension or ban. We may reclaim, suspend, or delete accounts (including inactive usernames) at our sole discretion. We are not liable for any loss or damage arising from unauthorized use of your account.

5. Usage Limits

We may impose and change limits at any time, without notice, including limits on paste size, number of pastes, creation frequency, storage duration, bandwidth, and API requests (if an API is offered). Exceeding limits may result in throttling, content rejection, or blocking. Features available free of charge today may be restricted, modified, made subject to fees, or removed at any time; any paid features offered in the future may be subject to additional terms.

6. User Responsibilities

By using this Service, you agree that you will not:

  • Upload or share illegal content of any kind
  • Post copyrighted material without authorization from the rights holder
  • Share malware, malicious code, exploits, ransomware, or harmful scripts
  • Publish personal data of others without their consent
  • Use the platform for phishing, fraud, scams, or social engineering
  • Impersonate any person, organization, or entity, or misrepresent your affiliation
  • Attempt to compromise, probe, or test the security of the platform
  • Use automated bots, scripts, or scrapers to spam, harvest, or bulk-download content from the Service
  • Circumvent rate limits, access restrictions, filters, bans, or expiration mechanisms
  • Resell, sublicense, white-label, or commercially exploit the Service or its content
  • Interfere with or disrupt the Service, its servers, or networks, or impose an unreasonable load on our infrastructure
  • Use the Service in violation of any applicable local, national, or international law or regulation

You are solely and entirely responsible for all content you publish and for any consequences arising from it.

7. Prohibited Content

The following content is strictly prohibited anywhere on the Service, including in public, unlisted, and password-protected pastes, paste titles, and any other user-submitted fields:

  • Illegal materials of any kind
  • Child sexual abuse material (CSAM) or any content that sexualizes, exploits, or endangers minors — zero tolerance; such content will be removed immediately and reported to law enforcement and relevant authorities
  • Terrorist propaganda, violent extremist content, or incitement to violence
  • Malware, viruses, exploits, ransomware, keyloggers, or distribution links for malicious software
  • Stolen credentials, leaked account databases, credit card data, banking details, or other compromised financial or personal information
  • Doxxing, harassment, threats, stalking, or content intended to intimidate or abuse any individual
  • Hate speech or content that promotes discrimination or violence against individuals or groups
  • Pirated software, cracks, keygens, serial numbers, license keys, or links to warez or pirated media
  • Content facilitating the sale of drugs, weapons, counterfeit goods, or other illicit products or services
  • Phishing pages, scam templates, fraudulent schemes, or deceptive content designed to mislead others
  • Spam, bulk-posted content, keyword stuffing, or content posted primarily to manipulate search engines
  • Advertising or promotional content of any kind (see Section 8)
  • Cryptocurrency promotion or financial solicitation of any kind (see Section 9)
  • Nudity, pornography, or sexual content of any kind (see Section 10)

Violations may result in immediate content removal, permanent bans, and reporting to the appropriate authorities. We cooperate with law enforcement where required.

8. No Advertising Policy

The Service may not be used for advertising, marketing, or promotion of any kind, in any form. The following are strictly prohibited:

  • Advertisements or promotions for any product, service, website, application, brand, or business
  • Affiliate links, referral links, referral codes, discount codes, or promo codes
  • Sponsored content, paid placements, press releases, or marketing copy of any kind
  • Link-building, backlink schemes, SEO spam, or posting links primarily to drive traffic to other websites
  • Solicitation of customers, clients, donations, subscriptions, sign-ups, or sales of any kind
  • Repeated or bulk posting of links, contact details, or promotional text in any field of the Service

This prohibition applies to all pastes — public, unlisted, and password-protected — and to every part of the Service. We may remove advertising content and permanently ban offending users and IP addresses without notice.

9. Cryptocurrency and Investment Promotion Prohibition

Promotion or advertising of cryptocurrency and related financial schemes is strictly prohibited on the Service. This includes, without limitation:

  • Promotion or advertisement of any cryptocurrency, coin, token, or digital asset
  • ICOs, IEOs, IDOs, token sales, presales, or NFT promotions of any kind
  • Airdrops, giveaways, "free crypto" offers, or claims of guaranteed returns
  • Trading signals, "pump" groups, market manipulation schemes, or paid trading communities
  • Promotion of exchanges, brokers, wallets, mining software, staking, or yield/earning programs
  • Posting wallet addresses to solicit payments, donations, or "investments"
  • Crypto "recovery" services, seed phrase trading, or any related fraudulent offerings
  • HYIPs, Ponzi schemes, pyramid schemes, MLM recruitment, get-rich-quick schemes, or unlicensed investment advice or solicitation of any kind

Good-faith technical content (for example, source code shared for legitimate software development or educational discussion) is permitted only if it does not promote, advertise, or solicit any cryptocurrency, token, or investment opportunity.

10. Adult and Sexual Content Prohibition

The Service is not an adult platform. The following are strictly prohibited in any form, including text, links, ASCII art, or encoded/embedded data:

  • Nudity, pornography, or sexually explicit material of any kind
  • Sexually suggestive or erotic content, including erotic stories, scripts, or chat logs
  • Links to pornographic or adult websites or content
  • Advertisement or solicitation of sexual services, escort services, or adult entertainment
  • Any sexual content involving minors, which will be reported to law enforcement immediately

11. Content Ownership and License

You retain ownership of any content you submit.

By submitting content, you grant Pastebox a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free, sublicensable license to host, store, reproduce, display, and distribute the content solely for the purpose of operating, securing, and improving the Service. This license ends when your content is deleted from the Service, except to the extent copies are retained in routine backups or as required by law.

We do not claim ownership of your content. You represent and warrant that you own or have all necessary rights to the content you submit and that it does not violate these Terms or any applicable law.

Feedback: If you send us suggestions, ideas, or feedback about the Service, you agree that we may use them without restriction, attribution, or compensation to you.

12. Public, Unlisted, and Password-Protected Pastes

  • Public pastes may be indexed by search engines and accessible to anyone.
  • Unlisted pastes are accessible to anyone with the direct URL and may still be discovered or shared.
  • Password-protected pastes require the correct password to access.

We do not guarantee the privacy, confidentiality, or security of any paste, including unlisted or password-protected pastes. Do not use the Service to store passwords, API keys, private keys, confidential business information, or sensitive personal data. Any content you submit is stored at your own risk.

13. Content Monitoring and Removal

We have no obligation to monitor, review, or pre-screen user content, and we do not endorse any user content. Content posted on the Service reflects the views of its authors only, not those of Pastebox. However, we reserve the right, at our sole discretion and without notice, to:

  • Monitor, review, or filter content, including through automated systems
  • Remove, disable, or restrict access to any content for any reason
  • Block, suspend, or permanently ban users, accounts, or IP addresses
  • Preserve content and disclose it to law enforcement or other parties where we believe in good faith that doing so is required by law or necessary to protect the Service, our users, or the public

Our failure to remove any particular content does not constitute approval of it and does not create any liability on our part.

14. Expiration, Deletion, and Backups

Users may select expiration times for pastes. Once expired:

  • The paste may be automatically and permanently deleted
  • We are not responsible for restoring expired or deleted content

We may also remove content that remains inactive for extended periods, or any content at our discretion. Deleted content may persist temporarily in backups or caches before being permanently purged. We make no guarantees regarding data retention or recovery. You are solely responsible for maintaining your own backup copies of any content you wish to keep.

15. Reporting Violations

If you believe content on the Service violates these Terms or applicable law, please report it to us through our contact form at https://pastebox.io/contact with the paste URL and a description of the violation. We will review reports and take action at our discretion, but we make no commitment regarding response times or outcomes. Knowingly submitting false or abusive reports is prohibited.

16. Copyright and Intellectual Property Complaints

We respect intellectual property rights and respond to valid infringement notices. If you believe content on the Service infringes your copyright or other intellectual property rights, submit a notice through our contact form at https://pastebox.io/contact including:

  • Identification of the copyrighted work claimed to be infringed
  • The URL of the allegedly infringing paste
  • Your contact information (name, address, email)
  • A statement that you have a good-faith belief the use is not authorized by the rights holder, its agent, or the law
  • A statement, under penalty of perjury, that the information in the notice is accurate and that you are the rights holder or authorized to act on their behalf
  • Your physical or electronic signature

We may remove allegedly infringing content without prior notice and will terminate access for repeat infringers. If your content was removed due to an infringement notice and you believe the removal was a mistake or misidentification, you may submit a counter-notification through the same contact form with identification of the removed content, your contact details, and a statement under penalty of perjury explaining your good-faith belief; we may restore the content at our discretion and may forward notices and counter-notices to the other party. Knowingly submitting false infringement claims may expose you to liability.

17. Pastebox Intellectual Property

Excluding user content, the Service and all materials within it — including the Pastebox name, logo, branding, design, layout, text, graphics, software, source code, and databases — are owned by or licensed to the operator of Pastebox and are protected by intellectual property laws. We grant you a limited, revocable, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to access and use the Service for personal, non-commercial purposes in accordance with these Terms. No other rights are granted. You may not copy, modify, distribute, sell, lease, scrape, reverse engineer, or create derivative works from any part of the Service or its software, except where such restriction is prohibited by law.

18. Privacy and Logging

For abuse prevention, security, and legal compliance purposes, we may collect and retain:

  • IP addresses
  • Browser and device information
  • Access timestamps
  • Usage logs

We may disclose this information to law enforcement or other authorities where required by law or where we believe in good faith that disclosure is necessary to investigate abuse, enforce these Terms, or protect the rights, property, or safety of Pastebox, our users, or the public. 19. Security and Automated Access

You may not attempt to gain unauthorized access to the Service, other users' content, or our systems; perform security testing without our prior written consent; or introduce any harmful code into the Service. Automated access (bots, crawlers, scrapers) is prohibited except for standard search engine indexing of public pastes in accordance with our robots directives. If you discover a security vulnerability, report it responsibly through our contact form at https://pastebox.io/contact and do not exploit or disclose it publicly.

20. Suspension and Termination

We reserve the right to refuse service to anyone, for any reason, at any time. We may suspend, restrict, or terminate your access to the Service at any time, with or without cause, with or without notice, and without any liability to you. Sections of these Terms that by their nature should survive termination (including content licenses for retained data, disclaimers, releases, limitation of liability, indemnification, and governing law) will survive.

21. Third-Party Services and Links

The platform may use third-party services including hosting providers, CDN services, advertising networks, and analytics tools. We are not responsible for the acts, omissions, availability, or policies of any third-party services. User content may contain links to third-party websites; we do not control, endorse, or assume any responsibility for such websites, and you access them entirely at your own risk.

22. Release

Your interactions with other users and third parties, including any disputes arising from content posted by others, are solely between you and those parties. To the fullest extent permitted by law, you release Pastebox, its operators, owners, and affiliates from any and all claims, demands, and damages of every kind, known and unknown, arising out of or in any way connected with such interactions, disputes, or third-party content.

23. No Warranty

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, whether express, implied, or statutory, including but not limited to implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title, and non-infringement.

We make no guarantees regarding availability, uptime, reliability, data preservation, security, accuracy, or that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of harmful components. No content on the Service constitutes professional, legal, financial, medical, or other advice. Use of the Service, and any reliance on content found on it, is entirely at your own risk.

24. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Pastebox, its operators, owners, and affiliates shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, profits, revenue, goodwill, or business opportunity, arising out of or related to your use of (or inability to use) the Service, including but not limited to:

  • Data loss or corruption
  • Service interruption, suspension, or discontinuation
  • Unauthorized access to or disclosure of content
  • Any content posted by users or third parties, or your exposure to such content
  • Any conduct of any user or third party

To the fullest extent permitted by law, our total aggregate liability for all claims arising out of or relating to the Service or these Terms shall not exceed the greater of (a) the total amount you have paid us in the twelve (12) months preceding the claim, or (b) ten U.S. dollars (USD $10). Some jurisdictions do not allow certain exclusions or limitations; in such jurisdictions, our liability is limited to the maximum extent permitted by law. These limitations apply regardless of the theory of liability and even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages.

To the extent permitted by applicable law, any claim or cause of action arising out of or related to the Service or these Terms must be filed within one (1) year after such claim or cause of action arose, or it will be permanently barred.

25. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Pastebox, its operators, owners, affiliates, and service providers from and against any and all claims, demands, damages, losses, liabilities, costs, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from or related to: (a) your use or misuse of the Service; (b) any content you submit; (c) your violation of these Terms; or (d) your violation of any applicable law or the rights of any third party.

26. Force Majeure

We shall not be liable for any failure or delay in performance resulting from causes beyond our reasonable control, including but not limited to acts of God, natural disasters, war, terrorism, civil unrest, labor disputes, governmental actions, power or internet failures, cyberattacks, or failures of hosting or infrastructure providers.

27. Modifications to Terms

We reserve the right to update or modify these Terms at any time at our sole discretion. The "Last Updated" date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision. Material changes may be announced on the Service, but we are not obligated to provide individual notice. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms. It is your responsibility to review these Terms periodically.

28. Governing Law and Dispute Resolution

These Terms shall be governed by and interpreted under the laws of the jurisdiction where the service operator resides, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Service shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the competent courts of that jurisdiction. You agree to first attempt to resolve any dispute informally by contacting us before initiating any formal proceeding. To the extent permitted by applicable law, all disputes shall be resolved on an individual basis only, and you waive any right to participate in any class, collective, or representative action.

29. General Provisions

  • Severability: If any provision of these Terms is found to be invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions will remain in full force and effect.
  • No Waiver: Our failure to enforce any right or provision of these Terms shall not constitute a waiver of that right or provision.
  • Assignment: You may not assign or transfer these Terms or your rights under them. We may assign these Terms without restriction, including in connection with a transfer of the Service.
  • Relationship of the Parties: Nothing in these Terms creates any partnership, joint venture, agency, or employment relationship between you and Pastebox.
  • Language: These Terms are drafted in English. Any translation is provided for convenience only; in case of conflict, the English version controls.
  • Entire Agreement: These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and Pastebox regarding the Service and supersede any prior agreements.
  • Headings: Section headings are for convenience only and have no legal effect.
